Today, it is one of the most popular liquors in the world, though it’s most often consumed in Mexico and the U.S. While tequila is the essential ingredient in margaritas and tequila shots are very popular, there are many other cocktail recipes in which it can be mixed.

Patrón is the biggest selling ultra-premium tequila in the US.
John Paul DeJoria’s other huge success is his line of Paul Mitchell hair care products which he co-founded.
Each bottle is hand-labeled and inspected–over 60 hands touch every bottle of Patrón before it leaves the distillery.
The brand is one of the few tequilas to still use the traditional stone wheel, called a “tahona,” to crush its agave.

In the center of our bottle, the wolves of Jalisco are hiding in plain sight, just as they did in the most sought-after agave fields. Feared and revered for their cunning and fierceness, these wolves are guardians of the agave and of the people of Arandas. Jose Cuervo

Jose Cuervo has been making tequila for over 250 years with the same experience, craftsmanship, and recipes that have been handed down generation through generation. Scroll down to explore key moments in the brand’s rich history.

In 1758, José Antonio de Cuervo y Valdés was given a writ of land ownership by King Fernand VI to plant agave on his lands for producing tequila.

King Carlos IV issued a royal decree in Spain granting Jose Maria Guadalupe Cuervo y Montana the first license to produce and distribute tequila.
